Welcome to ”30 Days of Praise!” Every once in a while I go into a month long journey of fasting, praying and praising. It helps me re-commit my life to Christ, keep my priorities in order, slow down from the craziness of everyday life and take time to really listen to what God wants to tell me. I am always amazed and excited where my journey takes me, and this time I will be journaling everyday and sharing my experiences with you.
Why would I commit myself to 30 Days of Praise? Well there are several reasons to do this. I may need some guidance and direction from God. I may feel like I am not as close to God as I want to be. And I may need help giving up some of my habits, behaviors and sin. You see most people don’t realize that they have control over themselves and their actions! (OH NO I probably just lost a bunch of followers for that statement!) YES YOU HAVE CONTROL OVER YOUR BEHAVIORS AND ACTIONS! Everyday I choose where I will go, who I associate with, what my language will be, what my actions will be etc… And although I do not have the strength in myself to change, I know the ONE who can change me. But he will only do it if I let him.
So for the next 30 days I will fast until noon, take more time for prayer and devotions, and be ready to listen to what God would have me to hear. And of course all day will be spent praising! I have have found in my walk with God that NOTHING changes situations faster then praising! I will go into more depth about the “spirit of praise” in future posts!
***note*** The point of fasting is not to twist God’s arm and get your way, but it is bringing your body into subjection so it can be ready to receive what God has for you. Because of the surgeries I have had I choose to fast everyday until lunch because it is a sacrifice for me, but not to the place where I will become physically ill. I have to use wisdom too!
“When everything falls apart, Praise his name. When you have a broken heart just raise your hands and say, “Lord your all I need, your everything to me” and He’ll take the pain away! And when it seems your all alone, Praise His name. When you feel you can’t go on, just raise your hands and say, “Greater is He that is within me” and you can praise the hurt away. If you’ll just praise His name!”
